Sascha Gilbert of the Whistler Mountain Ski Club (WMSC) is among the 13 Canadian athletes under the age of 21 who have been selected to represent their nation at the upcoming FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championship in Tarvisio, Italy.

Gilbert was named to Alpine Canada's CAST D program last summer and is one of eight team members with previous experience. His best result at the 2024 Junior Worlds was 34th in the downhill.

"This is an exciting time for these young athletes and also for Alpine Canada with a number of these athletes having been involved in Project Excel and the CAST D program,” said Jeff Thompson, VP Domestic Sport Programs and Events for Alpine Canada, in a press release. "We are proud of the impact Project Excel, the collaboration with the provincial ski teams and CAST D have had in just a short time in helping our athletes elevate their development.

"And we are very proud of these athletes, their coaches, clubs and families who support them on their journey to the world stage."

Junior Worlds will run from Feb. 27 to March 6. Click here to view Canada's full roster.
