Keenan Demchuk is now $6000 richer thanks to his win at The Grind event on Saturday in Regina, Sask.

A press release notes that The Grind is a a professional-level, multi-stop streetstyle series. Unlike World Cup and Olympic slopestyle events, urban snowboarding emphasizes rails, ledges, and boxes mimicking those found in cityscapes. It proved an ideal stage for Demchuk and his fellow men's podium finishers: Michael Modesti in second and Gavin Sorg in third.

Demchuk also clinched gold in January at a local BC Provincial Series slopestyle event.

Adel Talyspayeva prevailed in the ladies' contest ahead of runner-up Nora Beck and third-placer Sophia Bruck. The latter earned Best Trick honours and $3000 alongside her male counterpart, Joshua Lebrun.

"The Grind is more than a contest. It’s about showcasing the street snowboarding scene in a rider-driven environment while giving back to the communities that make it possible," said event director Rich Hegarty in a release.

Mark your calendars for The Grind to come to Whistler in April as part of the next World Ski and Snowboard Festival (WSSF).
