Pemberton Secondary School student-athlete Rebecca Beaton had a pair of top-five finishes at the 2023 B.C. mountain bike provincials.

Most mountain bike fans expect to see Finn Iles in the start gate for the UCI World Championships later this month, but he won't be the only Sea to Sky downhiller there.

Rebecca Beaton has informed Pique Newsmagazine via text message that she, Megan Bedard and Sophi Lawrence are also headed to the global stage in Pal Arinsal, Andorra.

A recent Pemberton Secondary School (PSS) graduate, Beaton helped her classmates to a trio of provincial titles during her time. She's also known for mentoring other girls in conjunction with the Pemberton Off-Road Cycling Association (PORCA).

Bedard is currently riding a six-medal streak. Most recently, she grabbed silver at the Canadian DH National Championships in Sun Peaks, B.C. and also took bronze at the 2024 Crankworx Whistler Air DH.

Lawrence has been a fixture at BC Cup and Canada Cup races over the last few years. She placed fourth at Nationals and 16th at this year's RockShox Canadian Open DH, but has reached the podium at four out of five BC Cups this season.

Stay tuned for the full lineup of athletes who plan to compete from Aug. 28 to Sept. 1 at Worlds.
