No injuries reported in Whistler townhome fire

Sixteen units impacted by Wednesday blaze; Emergency Support Services supporting displaced residents

A townhome fire in Whistler on Wednesday afternoon has left dozens without a place to live, though no injuries were reported in the blaze.

According to the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW), the fire at 4510 Blackcomb Way, otherwise known as the Gables Townhomes, displaced residents in 16 units, with eight directly involved in the blaze.

As of this writing, it is unclear exactly how many people are impacted, or how the fire started.

"Fortunately, there were no injuries," an RMOW communications official said in an email. "Emergency Support Services (ESS) are currently assisting displaced residents. Our team is supporting anyone that is a resident requiring immediate support. Any residents requiring ESS can call our Red Cross duty line 1-888-800-6493."
