Update, July 20: Squamish RCMP have announced that the musical instruments have been located.
Squamish RCMP say thieves stole instruments from a home in Valleycliffe sometime between July 12 and 15.
They entered the house located in the 1000-block of Balsam Place and stole seven musical instruments in their cases worth a total of about $12,000.
The residents, new to the Squamish area, are devastated as the instruments help play an essential role in a family member's livelihood, according to an RCMP news release.
Mounties are hoping that the public can help find and bring home the music, so to speak, for this family.
Here are more details about the missing instruments:
•A Schneider custom F5 mandolin with abalone inlay;
•An Oceana custom tenor ukulele with abalone rosette and white/black pinstripes;
• A Flea soprano ukulele, rainbow print;
• Simple soprano ukulele, brown;
• Concert-sized ukulele, brown;
• Vintage Mountain dulcimer, light brown wood and dark diamond marks on front;
• Child's violin.
Case colours vary from blue to black, and one light-grey backpack-style case.
"We are sending out a moral appeal for the thieves to do the right thing and turn in the instruments or anyone with information to let police know where these instruments are," said Cpl. Angela Kermer of the Squamish RCMP in the release.
Squamish RCMP asks anyone with any information regarding this theft to call police at 604-892-6100, or, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to www.solvecrime.ca
