Six sailors from the Whistler Sailing Association (WSA), including four in the Laser class and two in the Optimist class, took to the waters on June 17 and 18 for this year's edition of the Waves Regatta at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club.

Two contestants netted positive returns in the competitive 29-boat Optimist fleet, with Devan Ratke finishing seventh overall (fourth for his age group in the Red Fleet). Phil Hargreaves also acquitted himself well, moving up to tenth overall on Sunday after a series of solid outings.

In the Laser 4.7 fleet, Levi Rothdram won the day on Sunday and finished the meet second overall. Close behind were Zachary Astle in fourth, India Becker in fifth and Tim Blewett in ninth.

WSA coach and sailor Lira Ilyasova, who has been training the West Van Yacht Club race team since the fall, raced in the 40-boat Laser Radial fleet and finished in 28th place.
