Whistlers Morgan Titus will be looking for a gold medal not a pot of gold in Ireland this weekend as he joins the Canadian team at the International Association of Athletics Federations World Cross Country Championships.
Titus will run the 8 kilometre mens junior race, one of six races held at the championships. Last year Canada was sixth out of 25 countries, the best result for a Canadian junior team in the past 10 years.
As a freshman at the University of British Columbia, where he is a forestry student, Titus and helped the UBC cross country team to finish sixth out of 28 at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Titus also won a silver medal in the junior 8 km race at the B.C. Cross Country Championships at Jericho Beach this year, which earned him a spot on the provincial team.
At the National Cross Country Championships in Moncton last fall, he placed fifth overall to earn a spot on the national team for the world championships.
