Some of Canada's best sliding athletes will grace the Whistler Sliding Centre (WSC) on March 4 and 5, with the Canadian Luge Championships scheduled for this weekend. There is no charge to spectate, and more details are forthcoming. National team lugers will be training at the facility from Wednesday to Friday to prepare for the competition.
Youth athletes will be training as well from Wednesday to Saturday in advance of the BC Luge Championships on Sunday night. Spectacting will also be free.
Passenger bobsled sessions continue to be offered Tuesday through Sunday, where members of the public experience speeds of up to 125 km/h and 4 g-forces of acceleration as they hurtle down a world-class track, driven by a trained pilot. I've had the opportunity to ride one for myself and it's not the kind of experience you can replicate anywhere else.
Don't forget that three of the WSC's resident sliders are in Korea, attempting to qualify for the 2024 Youth Winter Olympics.
Visit the WSC website for more information, and check back with Pique Newsmagazine for the latest Sea to Sky sports news and features highlighting the athletes you know and love.
