More than 40 K1, K2 and Juvenile racers took part in the Whistler Mountain Ski Clubs 10 th annual Bike-a-thon on Oct. 14, with racers raising pledges to help cover their racing costs and show their level of commitment.
K1 racer Dylan Friese was the most committed, raising over $500 for his season.
Younger riders in the K1 and K2 programs cycled two laps of a circuit on the valley trail. The older juvenile and FIS-level athletes rode three laps of Joy Ride and Heart of Darkness in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.
"Not only did we raise money to defray the costs of ski racing for our members, it was a great opportunity to change up the training routine and have a great time taking advantage of one of the many training resources available to us," says WMSC ski coach Brett MacFarlane.
"A big thanks to Whistler-Blackcomb for their continued support of ski racing in the Whistler valley."
