Photos: Squamish pickleball tournament raises more than $4,100 for Sea to Sky Hospice

Local man Kai Bacon organized the event in honour of his late uncle, Peter

Two dozen teams participated in a pickleball tournament fundraiser organized on June 22, 2024 in Squamish by Kai Bacon. The 19-year-old was inspired by his late uncle, Peter, who passed away in May 2023 from terminal cancer.

Members of the public rallied around the Bacon family and their cause, raising nearly $4,170 for the Sea to Sky Hospice Society.

"The vibe at the courts was upbeat, positive and so supportive," wrote Kai's father, Andrew, in an email to Pique Newsmagazine. "On behalf of Kai Bacon, the Sea to Sky Hospice, and uncle Peter who's smiling down, thank you for your kindness.

"Keep supporting the Sea to Sky Hospice. The facility and staff made a big impact on our family and we will be forever grateful for the care, love and kindness they showed us when we needed it most. Let's keep supporting each other and the wonderful organizations that make such an enormous contribution to our communities."
