Mark McMorris won his 24th Winter X Games medal in Aspen, Colorado on Jan. 25, 2025.

Mark McMorris is already the most decorated competitor in Winter X Games history, and his podium streak rolls on.

Perhaps the only fly in McMorris' ointment is that he fell to Redmond Gerard for the second consecutive year. The American was dialed in throughout Saturday's snowboard slopestyle event, punctuating his golden run with a backside 1800 that netted him 92.66 points from the judges in Aspen, Colo.

Having won X Games slopestyle seven times before, most recently two years ago, McMorris knows how to operate under pressure. This time he ended up with silver (90.33 points) by way of a clean effort featuring a front triple 1440 directly into a backside 1620.

Taiga Hasegawa of Japan was unable to replicate the benchmark performance that earned him first in qualifying, but ultimately held on to bronze (81.00).

"As a kid I just hoped to someday participate in [the X Games]," wrote McMorris, a three-time Olympic bronze medallist, on social media. "Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would come this far. Beyond grateful."

Gerard said on his own Instagram account: "I am in absolute awe. Back to back feels so d--- good! Today was so fun! Congratulations to [McMorris] and [Hasegawa]."
