Nicklaus North to host summer Future Links programs
Humourist P.G. Wodehouse may have been on to something when he wrote "Golf, like measles, should be caught young."
Since 1996, the Royal Canadian Golf Association, the Canadian Professional Golfers Association, and Canadas provincial golf associations have attempted to infect more than 85,000 kids through the Bank of Montreal Future Links Junior Golf Clinics program. Future Links is a national effort to bring more kids into the game, regardless of their income bracket, and to give them a positive experience that keeps them coming back.
This year organizers are expecting to expose up to 35,000 more kids to golf. Nicklaus North will be responsible for more than 60 of those kids with clinics throughout the month of July.
There are coached sessions for Care Bears (up to age 6), Club Cubs (ages 7 to 9), Golf Aces (ages 10 to 12) and Nicklaus Bears (ages 13 to 16). Dates and times will be available during signup.
The cost is $80 for eight days of golf, and there is a 25 per cent discount for Nicklaus North junior members. Group sizes are limited to just eight kids, ensuring a student to teacher ratio of 4 to 1.
