Young gymnasts line up at the Whistler Gymnastics Club's 2023 Summer Classic.

Whistler Gymnastics recently hosted its annual Summer Classic, and a number of local athletes performed well.

Ruby McLatchie wound up second overall in the CCP Level 7 all-around ranking by way of victory in her beam routine, runner-up on bars and fifth in vault.

Maya Langdale earned two medals (silver on beam and bronze in bars), as did Sienna Osborn (second in vault and third on beam).

Parker Watts' vault effort was enough to grab bronze.

At CCP Level 6, Sadie Richer and Alexa Maxwell placed third in vault and floor respectively.

Other podium finishers include Isabelle Shaw (bronze on beam) at Xcel Gold and Xcel Silver's Quinn Phillipson (bronze in vault).

25 Whistler athletes and 42 Pembertonians filled out the Performance and Performance Plus divisions.

"Some kids just have this burning desire to push forward and really see where they can go," remarked Whistler Gymnastics head coach and facilities manager Karin Jarratt. "My favourite thing is to influence as little as I can and let them shine. Kids are so capable."
