The Canadian Alpine Ski Team (CAST) is well on its way to the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, with nine team members already qualifying for the Games.
They are Dave Anderson, Sara-Maude Boucher, Emily Brydon, Allison Forsyth, Thomas Grandi, Darin McBeath, Jean-Philippe Roy, Edi Podivinsky and Melanie Turgeon.
Whistlers Britt Janyk and Anne Marie Lefrancois only need one top-16 World Cup result before January to qualify, while Anna Prchal, Genevieve Simard and Ryan Oughtred need two.
Janyk, Forsyth, Grandi and Roy will be in Sölden, Austria for the opening World Cup giant slalom races of the season Oct. 27-28.
The official 2001-2002 CAST will be announced in November, and the Canadian Olympic Association will announce the Olympic ski team in January.
