Cameron Alexander placed fifth at the Kitzbühel World Cup super-G on Jan. 24, 2025.

Cameron Alexander led the Maple Leaf in fifth at the Kitzbühel, Austria World Cup super-G, and fellow Whistlerite Jack Crawford placed eighth. It's the first time Canada has put two men in the top 10 of this particular race since 2008, when John Kucera and Robbie Dixon finished fifth and sixth respectively.

Alexander moves into seventh in the season rankings with Crawford in 10th.

Gold went to Marco Odermatt (1:13.25) and silver landed around the neck of home contender Raphael Haaser (1:13.36). That left Stefan Rogentin to grab bronze (1:13.55) and join his fellow Swiss athlete Odermatt on the podium.

"The last time I raced the super-G here was in 2020 and I made it about seven gates, so making it all the way down and having a top five feels great," said a smiling Alexander in a press release. "We’ve got a really strong group and everyone is skiing well. Having five guys in the top 30 shows what our group can do."

Crawford told reporters: "I’m on a good trend heading into World Championships. I’ve had a lot of good skiing and just haven’t quite made it all the way to the finish the way I want. I’m happy with another top 10 and looking forward to tomorrow’s downhill."

At his maiden World Cup race in Kitzbühel, Riley Seger managed to cross the line 15th for his third career top 15.

"My first time racing in Kitz and the nerves were a little high," Seger said in a release. "The only two guys I watched were Cam and Jeff [Read] and they skied really well so that helped calm things. Today felt really good, I knew I had to go out and push and it felt great to cross the finish line."

Read ended up 23rd.
