Caileigh Koppang won silver at the 2023 Canadian Open Downhill U15 women's event in Whistler.

Caileigh Koppang experienced a devastating mountain bike accident on Oct. 17, one that left her in a coma and fighting for her life on a ventilator.

According to the GoFundMe page set up by Marie-Helene Harrisson on behalf of the Koppang family, the 15-year-old athlete's injuries are composed of spinal trauma, a diffuse axonal injury (DAI) to her brain, a dissected carotid artery, and multiple brain bleeds.

The page also reads: "Caileigh is a vibrant, friendly, and bright young soul who has always had a knack for spreading joy wherever she goes. Her infectious smile and positive spirit have touched everyone she meets. Now, she needs our help to get through this incredibly challenging time.

"The road to recovery will be long and difficult, with extensive rehabilitation, specialized care, and support needed for both her immediate and long-term needs. We are asking for your support to help cover the costs of her medical expenses, rehabilitation, and long-term care to ensure she can regain as much independence and quality of life as possible. No contribution is too small. Every donation, share, and word of encouragement will help Caileigh and her family as they navigate this challenging journey."

More than $43,540 have been raised as of this writing, with a goal set at $75,000. Click here to view the fundraiser and donate.
