Whistler will once again be well represented at this year’s Georgie Awards, recognizing excellence in B.C. home building.
Three Whistler-based companies will vie for top honours at the March 22 ceremony: RDC Fine Homes, TM Builders and Vision Pacific.
Now in its 33rd year, the 2025 Georgies will feature 53 categories grouped in six focus areas: Residential Construction-New; Residential Construction-Renovation; Interior Design; Merchandising and Landscaping; Sales and Marketing; Special Achievement Awards; and the Grand Georgie Awards.
Among local builders, RDC Fine Homes and Vision Pacific led the way with four nods each. Along with Residential Renovator of the Year, RDC Fine Homes is nominated for Custom Home valued over $3 million for a Whistler project dubbed “Snow Valley”; Best Single-Family Residential Renovation $450,001-$750,000 for a Whistler project titled “Pinecrest”; and Best Kitchen Renovation under $200,000 for a Whistler project called “Erie Elegance.”
Vision Pacific is nominated twice in the Best Master Suite over $125,000-New or Renovation for a pair of local projects, dubbed “Adrenaluxe” and “Mountain Longhouse.” The company will go head-to-head with RDC Fine Homes in the Custom Home valued over $3 million category, again for its “Mountain Longhouse” build in Whistler. It’s also the sole nominee in the Best Condo Residential Renovation $750,001-$1,500,000 category for a Whistler build called “Refined Alpine Luxury.”
TM Builders earned a single nod for its Pemberton project, dubbed “Inspired Farmhouse,” in the Custom Home valued $2,00,0001-$3 million category.
Four Squamish-based companies were also nominated—Ashley de Boer Interiors, Blue Water Concepts, Diamond Head Development, and Blueline Contracting, the latter earning a nod in the Best Energy Labeled Home-Custom and Custom Home valued over $3 million categories, both for a Whistler project titled “Mountainview Retreat.”
To be eligible for an award, companies must be a member of the Canadian Home Builders Association of B.C., which presents the Georgies, and the submitted projects must have been built, renovated, developed, created, and marketed between Jan. 1, 2023 and Oct. 31, 2024.
The finalists and winners are selected by a judging panel made up of industry professionals from outside the province.
“The past year has tested our industry with unprecedented challenges, such as economic uncertainty, labour shortages, high interest rates, and evolving government regulations,” said Nei Moody, CEO of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of B.C., in a release. “Despite these challenges, this year’s Georgie Awards finalists have continued to thrive. They have inspired our judging panel with their determination and dedication to building vibrant communities across B.C.”
This year’s Dr. Seuss-inspired ceremony will take place at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver. Tickets are on sale now here.
