Alair Homes Whistler partner Jason Zavitz is now the proud owner of a Georgie Award.
He won the prestigious building award for his work on Alair Whistler’s “Fresh Tracks” project, a condo renovation that came in under $250,000. The interior design for the renovation was done by Integrated Design Studio and Stacey White Design.
The Georgie Awards were held at the Hyatt in Vancouver, with more than 800 guests plus staff and entertainment for the night.
“We get to wear suits, which is something that most tradespeople, you know, we got to dust those off. We all looked really good for a bunch of contractors,” Zavitz said with a laugh.
It was also an opportunity to meet other contractors and share successes while also getting to know the competition.
“I think it's kind of like the rising tide lifts all boats, right? I want to see my friends who are contractors succeed and do great work and have happy clients.”
Zavitz's path to the award started with carpentry to make money in the off season and resulted into him joining Alair and becoming a partner.
He said the success of the project came from the client, the designers and a team of trades workers involved.
Having been nominated for a Georgie before in the same category, Zavitz is happy he won this time around.
“It is something that I've always wanted… it's nice to get that recognition, he said.”
Whistler's Schreyer Construction Ltd. was also a finalist in four categories at the 2024 Georgies: Best Single-Family Residential Renovation ($750,001 – $1,500,000); Best Condo Residential Renovation (under $450,001-$750,000); Best Condo Residential Renovation (under $750,001-$1,500,000); and Best Energy Labeled Whole House Renovation.
