Where there's smoke, there's fire, as the old saying goes—but if you're seeing smoke in Whistler this week, there's no cause for alarm.
Whistler Blackcomb and the Resort Municipality of Whistler are conducting controlled burning on Whistler Mountain on April 15 and 16.
On the morning of April 15, three columns of smoke could be seen rising from Whistler's forested slopes, leading to speculation on social media.
"As part of continued efforts to mitigate wildfire risk in the Valley, Whistler Blackcomb will be conducting a controlled burn today and Wednesday, April 16, in the area above Brio, in partnership with the Resort Municipality of Whistler," reads a WB post on Instagram.
"As a result, smoke will be visible."
