Small wildfire reported near Whistler's Green Lake

A very small wildfire was reported near Whistler on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Update: As of 2 p.m., the fire is now under control, according to the BCWS.

A very small wildfire is burning north of Whistler Village, according to the BC Wildfire Service.

The fire is suspected to be human-caused, and burning about 0.009 hectares east of Whistler's Emerald Estates neighbourhood, on the east side of Green Lake.

As of noon on Tuesday, Sept. 5, the fire was classified as out of control.

"We are currently responding to a small fire, V33166, located near Wedge Creek," confirmed a fire information officer with the BC Wildfire Service, in an email.

"One initial attack crew assisted by a helicopter is currently arriving on scene. The crew is hiking down to the fire site now, but from the air reported the fire to be spot sized (under 0.009ha in size)."
