Chief Robert Joseph is coming to Squamish in April to speak about his recent book: Namwayut - We Are All One: A Pathway to Reconciliation.
On April 12 at 7 p.m., Chief Joseph will be speaking at the Eagle Eye Theatre inside Howe Sound Secondary School. The event is free and tickets can be reserved online through Eventbrite.
“A hereditary Chief of the Gwawaenuk First Nation, he has dedicated his life to bridging the differences brought about by intolerance, lack of understanding and racism,” reads the news release from the Squamish Public Library.
For those that cannot make the event in person, the Whistler and Pemberton libraries are hosting watch parties and you can also view the event online at home.
Before Chief Joseph comes to the Sea to Sky Corridor, all three regional libraries are hosting a three-week online book club focusing on Namwayut. These book club sessions will happen on March 16, 23 and 30.
“In this book, Chief Robert Joseph traces his journey from his childhood surviving residential school to his present-day leadership journey bringing individual hope, collective change and global transformation,” reads a description of the book on its website.
The book is available for borrowing from the regional libraries and can also be purchased at Little Bookshop in Squamish or Armchair Books in Whistler.
