Like the vast majority of events in 2020, Whistler's Remembrance Day ceremony looked very different from past years' events.
On Wednesday morning, Whistlerites gathered online rather than in person to stream the local Remembrance Day ceremony from the Resort Municipality of Whistler's live feed. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony at the Cenotaph was not open to the public as it would normally be, in an effort to discourage public gathering.
Otherwise, the Nov. 11 ceremony featured several traditional aspects to help mark the day of reflection, including readings from local residents, the playing of the Last Post, a flyover by Blackcomb Helicopters, a poignant and timely Act of Remembrance delivered by longtime Whistler resident Anne Townley, wreath-laying, and, of course, a moment of silence.
If you weren't able to catch the ceremony live, watch it here.
