Pemberton RCMP have arrested a 35-year-old Port Douglas male in a hit and run involving a female pedestrian.
Police say that witnesses reported seeing a white, late-model Chevrolet pickup truck hit a women walking along the shoulder of the road. The driver then put the victim into the vehicle and drove away.
They have now located the truck and the parties involved in the incident. The condition of the victim is unknown. Charges have not yet been laid.
The police were also looking for a blue SUV, which pulled up beside the white pickup and stopped. It has since been located.
The incident happened around 11:15 a.m. on Feb.6 along Highway 99 just south of Portage Rd.
"The report was that a pickup truck had hit a pedestrian on the shoulder of the road," said Sgt. Rob Knapton, operations NCO for Whistler RCMP. "The driver then stopped and got the pedestrian into the truck and drove away."
A witnesses was able to get a photo of the pickup as it departed heading north on Highway 99.
