Bob Calladine was named the Whistler Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year at a July 18 luncheon at Garibaldi Lift Co.
The Vancouver-born Calladine moved to Whistler in 1995 and has been the personification of community spirit. The selection committee was impressed by Calladines ongoing volunteerism with local scouts, Rotary and soccer clubs, as well as endless hours spent as a Weasel Worker at the downhill ski races.
Calladine was presented with a plaque Wednesday at the Chambers monthly luncheon and annual Citizen of the Year gathering. For the next year hes entitled to the highly-coveted, extra large reserved parking space under the conference centre. Open Country also made a surprise presentation to Calladine of a gift certificate to their store.
Eileen Tomalty, last years Citizen of the Year, made the presentation.
