John Weston, the current MP for West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country, is seeking a third term in office.
The Conservative Party constituency association for the party in the region announced last week that, as no one came forward to challenge the MP for the nomination, Weston was acclaimed.
"With John Weston back in Ottawa representing our riding, we will continue to have a clear voice in Ottawa and John will make sure our interests are well represented," said AJ Jacobs-Hajian, president of the association.
Weston's nomination confirmation was delivered through a news release.
"It's an honour to serve," said the MP in the news release. "The key to effective governance is an engaged group of citizens. Time and again, the accomplishments we see in our riding reflect collaboration among innovative, hardworking people, supported by the government."
Weston is the only confirmed candidate in the riding to date.
Larry Koopman, with the federal NDP, said someone is interested in representing his party.
"We anticipate that the candidate-nomination process for the West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country Federal NDP will take place soon, within the next few months," said Koopman. "At this point we do have one interested candidate that has come forward."
Three people have filed their nomination papers with the Liberal Party. Pam Goldsmith-Jones of the North Shore submitted her papers this week. Robert Cannon-Brown and Judith Newbergher-Renaud, both Sunshine Coast residents, got their papers in earlier.
The Green Party hasn't identified a candidate yet.
