Letter: Powder to the peeps, revisited

'A resort between Squamish and Whistler would help the overcrowding situation...'

'There are clearly enough season-ticket holders in Whistler, Pemberton and Squamish to track out all 7,200 hectares of terrain and all the gaps in between in a few short hours without a single weekender or tourist joining the mayhem.'

What a great article in a short amount of space (Pique, Jan. 26, “Powder to the peeps”). Among other ideas, I was particularly interested in “Can we add a third mountain somewhere?”

In the past, Whistler Blackcomb and other local stakeholders were opposed to this idea, and even publicly lobbied against the proposed Garibaldi at Squamish ski resort.

A resort between Squamish and Whistler would help the overcrowding situation, would help environmentally, and would lessen the burden of the highway system to Whistler.

Its time has probably come, and it would be similar to Nakiska between Calgary and Banff.
