QMJHL Roundup: Tigres rout Islanders, Foreurs top Sagueneens in semifinals action

QUEBEC — A hat trick from Benjamin Tardif powered the Victoriaville Tigres to a dominant 9-2 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff action on Wednesday.

QUEBEC — A hat trick from Benjamin Tardif powered the Victoriaville Tigres to a dominant 9-2 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff action on Wednesday. 

Olivier Coulombe and Shawn Element had two goals apiece for the Tigres, while Zachary Gravel and Brooklyn Komlikov each put up a goal and an assist. 

Noah Laaouan got the Islanders on the board with a power-play tally 11:09 into the second frame, and Patrick Guay added a goal 10:17 into the third. 

Charlottetown's Colten Ellis gave up four goals on 17 shots in the first period and Jacob Goobie registered 19 saves in relief. 

Fabio Iacobo stopped 17-of-19 shots for Victoriaville. 

The semifinal series is now tied 1-1 with Game 3 set for Friday.

FOREURS 4 SAGUENEENS 2

QUEBEC — Jakob Pelletier had a goal and three assists as the Foreurs notched a 4-2 win over the Sagueneens. 

The score was even at 1-1 heading into the second period but Val-d'Or pulled away with goals from Maxim Cajkovic, Samuel Poulin and Nathan Legare.

Artemi Kniazev scored 15:29 into the first period for Chicoutimi and Pierrick Dube added a power-play marker 9:04 into the final frame. 

The semifinal matchup is even at 1-1 heading into Game 3 on Thursday.
