MacKinnon, Hagel, Draisaitl named NHL's three stars of the month for February

NEW YORK — Colorado Avalanche centre Nathan MacKinnon, Tampa Bay Lightning left-wing Brandon Hagel and Edmonton Oilers centre Leon Draisaitl have been the NHL's three stars of the month for February.

MacKinnon had 12 points (four goals and eight assists) in eight games for the Avalanche who moved into a tie for third place in the Central Division with a 5-3-0 month.

He also scored a tournament-best four goals in as many games to claim MVP honours and help Canada to its championship at the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Hagel led the NHL with 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in eight outings to push the Lightning into third place in the Atlantic Division by way of a league-best 7-0-1 February.

Draisaitl topped the NHL with eight goals in as many games, adding four assists. He scored in each of his last seven contests to match the longest goal streak of his career, set Feb. 12-25, 2023.

Draisaitl also extended his point streak to 10 games dating to Jan. 27 (nine goals, five assists), his 11th career double-digit run and second of the season.
