Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) wants to improve health-care delivery in the Sea to Sky, and it wants your feedback on how to do it.
In a news release Tuesday, June 13, the regional health authority announced it would begin engaging the public this month on its so-called “Health Vision Sea to Sky,” an integrated, high-level master plan aimed at enhancing health-care services in the fast-growing region.
“Engagement includes an online survey and other engagement opportunities that will help VCH develop a health services master plan for the Sea to Sky corridor and specific health-related site plans for the Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton areas to address the region’s current and future changing health and wellness needs,” the release stated.
“As Health Vision Sea to Sky is developed, there will be opportunities for First Nations, community partners and residents to participate in the engagement to provide feedback on the draft plans.”
The public can fill out an online survey, live now at engage.vch.ca/health-vision, which represents the first phase of engagement. Further regional and community feedback on the draft plans is expected to start this fall.
The overall engagement is expected to last 18 months and is broken down into three phases. VCH said this will help plan health services in the region for the next five to 10 years and beyond.
“The benefits of Health Vision Sea to Sky will include understanding community needs, priorities and expectations, developing coordinated service plans and helping to understand future infrastructure needs. It will also give VCH the opportunity to hear from as many people as possible and consider diverse viewpoints,” the release went on.
