For people on the North Shore, a visit from a Navy ship is in the offing.
HMCS Yellowknife is on course to arrive at the Burrard Dry Dock in North Vancouver this weekend.
Once berthed, crew will be offering free public tours of the vessel on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
HMCS Yellowknife is a Kingston-class coastal defence vessel that patrols waters on the West Coast. It has served in the Canadian Forces since 1998 and its home port is Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt on Vancouver Island.
The ship's crew is typically a mix of reserve and regular force personnel, says Capt. Chelsea Dubeau, public affairs officer with Maritime Forces Pacific. Kingston-class vessels serve multiple roles, such as training reservists, pollution surveillance and aiding in search and rescue efforts.
HMCS Yellowknife was most recently in Oregon, to participate in the Portland Rose Festival.
