May 16, 1943 to Jan. 6, 2025.
Harvey B. Fellowes was born in Vancouver, B.C. to F Ben Fellowes and IM (Patty Harvey) Fellowes.
Attended Lord Byng High School.
Studied math and computer science at UBC before escaping to Whistler.
He died in his home, at age 81.
His home was a treasure trove of mountain memorabilia dating back to 1965.
His jacket collection includes: GLC Lift Company 1965, First Aid Ski Patrol 1965-1979, and many Whistler Weasel Workers jackets.
His collection of skies mirrored technological changes.
During his 40+ years at Whistler-Blackcomb, Harvey worked in the lift maintenance, electrical maintenance, and parts departments.
He retired at age 70.
Living at Mid-Station from 1968-1982, he was an integral part of the daily Whistler mountain start-up routine.
In recognition of his contributions, Harvey was selected as one of the 22 people chosen for the first Peak to Peak ride in 2008.
Whistler-Blackcomb was family to Harvey.
I am grateful to his co-workers, friends and neighbours for their stories and practical help.
A get-together at Dusty's will be forthcoming.
Donations, in Harvey’s honour, can be made to the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation.
