Happy Christmas Eve! Santa Claus is coming to town—tonight!—and he's already on his way.
He and his reindeer have departed on their annual around-the-world journey to deliver presents to everyone who earned a spot on the nice list this year.
As Santa and his sleigh take to the skies, the Canadian North American Aerospace Defense Command has once again accepted "the mission of monitoring and escorting Santa as he completes his magical journey through Canadian airspace."
This year marks the organization's 65th consecutive year tracking Santa’s yuletide journey, NORAD confirmed in a news release.
“Utilizing the North Warning System's powerful radar and satellite systems, we are able to see into the North better than ever, allowing us to track Santa more precisely, ensuring he has a safe trip through North American airspace," said Maj.-Gen. Eric Kenny, commander of the Canadian NORAD region in the release.
Eager Santa-watchers can head to the NORAD Tracks Santa website to see where Santa currently is on his flight path. At the time of publication, St. Nick was en route to Victoria, in the Seychelles, after being last seen in Mogadishu, Somalia. He's delivered over 2.4 million presents, as of 1:15 p.m. PST.
Throughout the day, NORAD’s "Santa Cams" will stream videos on the website as Santa drops by various locations around the world. Wondering about Santa's current whereabouts? Dial the toll-free number 1-877-HI-NORAD (1877-446-6723) to speak with a live phone operator or hear a recorded update.
And most importantly, remember that Santa won't be able to stop by your home unless you're asleep!
🎄 Christmas Eve is finally here and #SantaClaus has started his circuit around the 🌎! Thanks to the hard work of #NORAD Santa trackers, children and adults alike can follow along on the journey ➡️ https://t.co/WQl0HSHXCV
