In a perfect coincidence the first day of summer is ushering in a brief heat wave in Whistler and the South Coast.
And with Father’s Day falling today as well, enjoying the outdoors could be your best bet for the day.
Environment and Climate Change Canada posted the alert for a 'short-lived heat wave' yesterday after a week of cool and unsettled weather, saying temperatures are likely to be five to 10 degrees above seasonal. It’s expected to end Tuesday, June 22.
“The current guidance indicates that the day-time temperatures will peak in the low-thirties through Monday at locations away from the immediate coast,” said the weather statement.
“The ridge associated with this warm spell will start shifting inland on Tuesday, ushering the hot air into the Interior.”
If you are out enjoying the Farmers Market today in Whistler make sure you wear a hat, use sunscreen and do not leave any pets in your vehicles—remember it's at its new location in the carpark of the Whistler Racket Club.
To enjoy Whistler parks take the bus. Paid parking is now in place at many of the most popular lakefront green spaces.
