A man granted bail on charges of drug trafficking and then theft has been granted bail for a third time after being charged with assaulting a woman.

John Freiman Arce Mina, 22, appeared before Vancouver Provincial Court Judge Andrea Brownstone on Dec. 3 for another bail hearing.

Charges sworn March 21 allege Arce Mina possessed cocaine, fentanyl and benzodiazepine for the purpose of trafficking on Dec. 20, 2023. Court records show he did not remain in custody.

For Aug. 28, Arce Mina was charged with failing to comply with release conditions by being at the Main Street SkyTrain station. The next day, he was released from custody after a bail hearing, court documents said. That charge has been stayed.

Then, in Surrey on Oct. 21, Arce Mina is alleged to have stolen sunglasses from a Sunglass Hut store.

It is also alleged that, on Nov. 26, Arce Mina assaulted a woman. He was arrested and released on bail conditions.

The next day, he allegedly failed to comply with a release order by contacting the female he is alleged to have assaulted.

Court records show he appeared in court on Nov. 27 from Vancouver police cells.

Brownstone’s new bail order covers all the current charges with the bail amount now increased to $1,000 with deposit or surety.

Arce Mina has been ordered to stay in Surrey with his father, who was in court to support his son.

His next court date is Dec. 16.
