Phat Wednesdays are back at Whistler Blackcomb and as usual, locals are making their mark.
Mhairi Smart emerged on top during May 31's season-opening race for females aged 10 to 16, clocking in at three minutes, 49.69 seconds. In doing so, she edged out fellow Whistlerite Cami Bragg, who finished second (3:50.95). Caileigh Koppang rounded out the top three in an all-Canadian field (3:55.38).
Smart is no stranger to the Phat Wednesdays series. The young rider earned five podium finishes, including one victory and four runner-ups, on the local circuit in 2022.
Meanwhile, the Sea to Sky's Anthony Shelly pulled through for gold in the boys' age 14 to 16 competition (3:30.79). Noah White from Australia claimed silver (3:33.19) ahead of another homegrown product, Cole Gautrey with bronze (3:38.06).
