A trio of Sea to Sky lugers took part in World Cup action this weekend from Jan. 11 to 12 at Altenberg, Germany.
Trinity Ellis paced Canada by finishing 17th in women's singles, clocking one minute and 47.530 seconds across both runs. Caitlin Nash, who helped win the first ladies' doubles medal in Canadian history, nipped at Ellis' heels for 18th (1:48.020) and incumbent national champ Embyr-Lee Susko placed 19th (1:49.343).
Austria's Madeleine Egle found the speed for gold (1:45.642), with Anna Berreiter (1:45.792) and Merle Fraebel (1:45.905) bringing silver and bronze to their native Germany.
Over in men's doubles, it was Devin Wardrope and Cole Zajanski sliding to 13th (1:25.528). They weren't able to match the efforts of victorious Latvian duo Martins Bots and Roberts Plume (1:23.900), runner-ups Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt (1:24.023) nor Yannick Mueller and Armin Frauscher in third (1:24.031).
The Whistler Sliding Centre (WSC) is up to host this year's Luge World Championships from Feb. 6 to 8. Full results from Altenberg can be viewed here.
