A three-year COVID-19 hiatus evidently can't stop Canadian skiers from showing out on home snow.
The Whistler Cup concluded on April 16 with Team Canada defending its title from 2019, which was the last time the event took place.
Roxy Coatesworth led the way with victories in both super-G and giant slalom. The Golden, B.C. native has been absolutely dominant this season, as evidenced by her quadruple-gold medal effort from the Canada Winter Games: super-G, giant slalom, slalom and even ski cross. As a result, Coatesworth was honoured as Team B.C.'s flag-bearer for the closing ceremonies on Prince Edward Island.
Whistler Mountain Ski Club (WMSC) product Hannah Jensen made some noise last weekend as well, earning silver in slalom. Jensen's best Canada Winter Games result this February was fifth in super-G.
Émile Piché distinguished himself among men with slalom silver and super-G bronze. The Québécois contender was also a standout on Prince Edward Island, finishing first in giant slalom and second in super-G.
"Defending champions Team Canada keep the Cup at home!" said Whistler Cup representatives in a statement posted to social media. "Congratulations to all on a tremendous few days of racing. See you in 2024!"
