Tannen DesBrisay's recent trip to Kappl, Austria did not go as planned, but he is fortunately on the mend.

A ruptured appendix and the ensuing short-notice surgery prevented DesBrisay from competing at the 2025 Freeride Junior World Championships (FJWC). He wishes to thank his coaches, teammates, friends, loved ones and other community members who have expressed support.

DesBrisay's father, Matt, said in an email to Pique Newsmagazine that the local skier is "recovering well" and expects to be released from hospital in "a few days."

Meanwhile, Whistler Freeride Club (WFC) members Kayla Constantini and Kohen Tacilauskas finished 11th and 19th respectively in Kappl. Anjah Morgan-Smith paced Team Canada with a silver medal in the ladies' ski division.
