Good day, everyone! It's David again, back with a fresh round of sports trivia. If you're new to this: each week, I’ll share four or five sports trivia questions for you to ponder. A mix of local, national and international topics will be featured. Some questions will be easy, others not so much. Swing by the following week to get answers.

Answer: A. Mike Smrek of Welland, Ontario won back-to-back NBA titles in 1987 and 1988 with the Los Angeles Lakers. A 7’0” centre, he played a reserve role behind all-time greats Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the “Showtime” era.
2. Mike Smrek’s son, Luke, and daughter, Anna, are athletes too. Luke played tennis at Marquette University. What sport does Anna play?
A) Basketball
B) Soccer
C) Volleyball
D) Softball
Answer: C. At 6’9”, Anna Smrek is one of the tallest athletes in women’s college volleyball. She plays middle blocker and right-side hitter for the University of Wisconsin Badgers at the NCAA Division I level.
3. Pembertonian luger Trinity Ellis competed in her first FIL World Championships late this January. What was her placing?
A) 6th
B) 10th
C) 17th
D) 18th
Answer: D. Ellis finished 18th as the top Canadian woman in Oberhof, Germany. She also placed 10th as part of Canada’s relay team with Dylan Morse, Devin Wardrope and Cole Zajanski.
4. Jack Crawford became the third Canadian man to win a world title in alpine skiing with his super-G gold medal this February. Who were the others?
A) Erik Guay and Manuel Osborne-Paradis
B) John Kucera and Erik Guay
C) Jan Hudec and John Kucera
D) Robbie Dixon and Jean-Phillippe Roy
Answer: B. John Kucera was the first to win FIS World Championships gold in 2009, and Erik Guay did so in 2017.

D) 5
Answer: A. Katie Ledecky has won seven Olympic championships to go with 14 individual long-course world titles.
