The 2023 Pemberton Youth Soccer Association Jamboree provided over 100 young players with professional coaching.

After three decades coaching with the Pemberton Youth Soccer Association (PYSA), Anne Crowley is hanging up her clipboard.

Crowley helped kickstart soccer in the area when her son was 5 and initially took it upon herself to mentor every age group. Eventually, other parent volunteers signed on to form a board and officially bring the PYSA to life. This allowed Crowley to focus on working with U6 players.

"[The PYSA] has fulfilled the philosophy of this whole program, which is to make soccer a lifelong part of people's lives," Crowley said in an interview with association director Christine Cowin.

"Really at this level, the real goal is for kids to have a healthy outlook…my main goal is just basic skills, a lot of time on physical literacy, how to move your body, strength and coordination. It’s amazing to see the start to the end, they can be amazing little athletes."

Cowin added in an email to Pique Newsmagazine: "Anne’s retirement marks the end of an era for our community, and it is only fitting that we celebrate her legacy and contributions."
