Canadian national moguls skier Maia Schwinghammer takes flight.

Fresh off the inaugural World Cup victory of her life, Maia Schwinghammer kept it rolling last Thursday with bronze in Deer Valley, Utah.

75.22 points was the score for the Whistlerite, just off the mark set by eventual gold medallist Jaelin Kauf of the United States (80.75). French contender Perrine Laffont received silver (79.63).

Kauf and Laffont finished one-two in Saturday's dual moguls event, but Schwinghammer wiped out and was unable to join them on the podium.

"Deer Valley! One of the toughest courses I’ve ever skied here," she remarked on Instagram after the fact. "Happy to walk away from a good crash in duals. A dream to podium under these lights."

Incumbent world champion Laffont tops the overall ranking with Kauf hot on her heels. Schwinghammer is third in that department.

In other news, Mikael Kingsbury shook off an uncharacteristic 16th-place result on Thursday by placing second in dual moguls on Saturday behind his old rival from Japan, Ikuma Horishima. Rounding out the top three was Pavel Kolmakov from Kazakhstan.
