Whistler Field Hockey hosted its first drop-in, adult field hockey sessions on Monday night at Bayly Park in Cheakamus.
Twelve people with skill levels ranging from complete beginners to former national level players participated in the session.
These drop-in sessions will be held in the same location every Monday night from 6 to 8 p.m. until October. Currently, there is capacity for a maximum of 30 players.
It costs $9 per week and each participant is required to have a stick, mouth guard and shin pads. However, one of the founders of Whistler Field Hockey, Joelle Tiessen, said she does have some extra sticks available for those who just want to try the sport.
This past week and next week the Field Hockey Shack, based out of West Vancouver, will be onsite to sell gear to anyone who needs it.
