There’s a secret treat lying in wait somewhere in snow-covered Whistler.
Dairy Queen Canada (DQ) is launching a cross-country contest in five locations. Starting today, Feb. 21, to Feb. 23, Whistlerites can search for a hidden “oversized surprise” and 10 treasure-hunters in each city will win free Blizzard Treats for a year.
Candida Ness, VP of Marketing at DQ Canada, said the contest leans into Canadian winters.
“This contest is all about embracing the winter season in true DQ Canada style—by celebrating Blizzard Treats in actual blizzard season! Canadians don’t shy away from the cold and neither does DQ,” Ness said in a statement provided to Pique. “This activation brings an element of fun, adventure and reward, inviting fans to step outside, search for a larger-than-life surprise and win free Blizzard Treats for a year—ultimately rewarding DQ fans with an out-of-the-box, unique experience.”
The four other frozen tundras DQ chose for the contest include Collingwood and Ottawa in Ont., Winnipeg, Man, and Calgary, Alta.
“Each of these destinations is known for its chilly temperatures and snowy landscapes, making them perfect spots to embrace a search for Blizzard Treats,” Ness said.
When they find the location, contestants must scan a QR code to enter the draw.
The contest starts at 10 a.m. local time on Feb. 21 and ends at 6 p.m. on Feb. 23.

The prize is available at participating DQ locations in Canada and is non-transferrable with no cash value.
“Blizzards and winter go hand in hand—both in name and in spirit! Canadians love their Blizzard Treats no matter the season and there’s something extra fun about enjoying one in the middle of winter storm season," Ness. said. "This activation taps into that love of the cold, challenging fans to bundle up, embrace the elements and hunt for a hidden surprise – all while celebrating the Blizzard name in the most fitting setting possible."
