Whistler's main recreation centre is closing its doors temporarily, beginning this week.
Meadow Park Sports Centre (MPSC) will be closed to the public from Monday, Aug. 29 until Monday, Sept. 5 to "conduct maintenance and keep the facility safe and operable for everyone's enjoyment," the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) explained on its website.
The closure applies to all of the building's facilities, including the skating rink, fitness centre, squash and basketball courts and lobby.
The pool area, specifically, will stay closed for an additional couple of weeks after the other facilities open on Sept. 6. The lap pool, kids pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna and change rooms are instead scheduled to reopen to swimmers on Sept. 22.
However, MPSC phone lines will remain open for general inquiries from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
