Whistler locals and visitors might find themselves waiting longer than usual for a bus this January.

Thanks to heavy snowfall, slippery roads and leftover holiday traffic, getting around Whistler is taking a little longer than usual this weekand that's no different for those using public transit.

Whistler's Transit System issued service disruption advisories for all routes on Tuesday, Jan. 4 that will remain in effect until further notice.

The service disruption are reportedly due to labour shortages, and affects routes 5, 6, 7, 10, 20X, 20, 21, 25, 30, 31 and 32. Some routes are experiencing delays of "up to 50 minutes or more," the advisory reads. Customers are advised to check BC Transit's NEXTRIDE service to keep an eye on their bus.

More alerts remain in effect for Whistler Thursday when it comes to the forecast, too.

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Whistler Thursday morning in light of the continuing low pressure system that's expected to dump more heavy snow over the resort beginning later tonight, before easing into lighter snow Friday morning.

Environment Canada is calling for 25 to 35 centimetres of accumulation.

Motorists are asked to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. "Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations," the warning reads. "If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop."
