Whistler transit is opening up more service hours as winter approaches.

As Whistler prepares for what's hopefully going to be a busy winter, its transit system is gearing up to accommodate the crowds accordingly.

Early winter extra service is set to begin Saturday, Nov. 20, coinciding with Whistler Blackcomb's scheduled opening day on Thursday, Nov. 25, the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) and BC Transit announced this week.

The early winter extra service will see the seasonal return of routes:

  • 4 Marketplace shuttle;
  • 20X Cheakamus;
  • 25 Whistler Creek;
  • 31 Alpine; and
  • 32 Emerald

To improve service reliability in Whistler, there will also be additional trips on routes:

  • 5 Upper Village/Benchlands,
  • 6 Tapley's/Blueberry,
  • 7 Staff Housing,
  • 20/20X Cheakamus, and
  • 30 Emerald via Alpine.

Whistler Transit's schedule will swap over to its full winter service hours on Friday, Dec.18.

More information about extra service and route schedules is available on BC Transit's website, as is a Rider's Guide. Real-time schedule updates and bus capacities can be found online as well.

All public transit users are still required to wear masks while aboard Whistler busses, in accordance with B.C.'s ongoing provincial health order.
