Police are investigating after a pickup truck loaded with equipment was stolen from a Whistler landscaping business last week.
According to Whistler RCMP, a white Ford F550 flat deck truck with a crane and other tools was taken from the 8200 block of Mons Court by "unknown suspects" sometime around last Monday, July 25.
This file remains open for investigation.
Whistler police dealt with a total of 134 files between Wednesday, July 27 and Tuesday, Aug. 2, including nine collision investigations and two calls regarding thefts from vehicles.
Man arrested after Whistler Village altercation
One man was arrested after an alternation turned violent on Saturday, July 30.
In a release, Whistler RCMP said police were called to Whistler Village to respond to a reported assault outside a "local liquor establishment."
RCMP arrived at the scene in the 4300 block of Main Street, where they found two men who were visiting Whistler from out of the area. One was bleeding and in need of medical attention after the other had hit him with a bottle, police said.
The man who delivered the blow was arrested for assault with a weapon before being released from custody with a future court date.
Vehicles impounded after motorists nabbed for excessive speed, impaired driving
Whistler RCMP's traffic safety enforcement over the BC Day long weekend resulted in a few drivers losing their cars for a period of time.
On Friday July 29, a member of the local detachment was conducting a check stop for impaired drivers when they noticed a vehicle avoiding the checkpoint.
The officer managed to stop the vehicle and administer a series of roadside tests, which the Whistler driver reportedly failed. The next day, Saturday, July 30, police were out on patrol in the resort when they noticed a "a car swerving in its lane." After stopping the vehicle, police noticed the driver was showing signs of impairment, which were confirmed when the motorist also failed roadside tests.
In both cases, Whistler RCMP issued a 90-day driving suspension to the driver and impounded their car for 30 days.
The same day, Saturday, July 30, police were out conducting speed checks on Highway 99 south of Whistler when a member of the RCMP detachment observed a truck travelling at approximately 130 kilometres per hour near Callaghan Valley Road, "well over" the posted speed limit of 90 km/h.
The officer carried out a traffic stop and issued a violation ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act for excessive speed to the local driver, who also had their truck impounded.
