As the holidays approach, the Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP is once again hosting a food and toy drive for the Whistler Community Services Society (WCSS).
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 28, RCMP officers, Fire Officer Sparky, and perhaps even old saint Nick, will be on hand outside of Fresh Street Market accepting donations. In its fourth annual year, the emergency services toy and food drive helps the Whistler Food Bank and WCSS’ holiday helper program.
They accept new toys, non-perishable food, gift cards and cash or card monetary donations.
Anyone looking to donate that can’t attend Nov. 28 can drop off items at the RCMP detachment at 4315 Blackcomb Way.
WCSS’ Holiday Helper program provides families in Whistler with access to holiday essentials like food, personal essentials, and holiday gifts for children. Their goal for this year is raising $30,000. Money is distributed as gift cards, useable for gifts to kids 18 and under and for purchasing groceries.
Registration for the program opened Nov. 1 and ends Nov. 30. To register for the holiday helper program, visit WCSS’s website here.
