Police in Whistler, B.C. are asking for the public's help in identifying two women allegedly involved in stealing a backpack from a Whistler Village business in September 2022.

Whistler RCMP is asking for the community's help to identify a woman and her companion who were caught on camera stealing a backpack in September.

In a news release on Monday, Nov. 14, police said surveillance cameras filmed an unknown woman lifting a grey Hurley backpack from a business in the 4300 block of Whistler Village's Main Street just before midnight on Sept. 4, 2022.

The suspect—who was accompanied by a second woman at the time of the theft, according to the detachment—reportedly stole the bag when the complainant had their back turned.

The backpack was filled with protein supplements, Ray Ban sunglasses, and other personal items when it was taken, police said.

“While the value of stolen goods is not significant in the big picture, no one should have their things stolen,” noted Sea to Sky RCMP Cpl. Angela Kermer in the release.

Police said the first woman, estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old, has a light complexion and long, wavy brown hair. She was wearing a brown hat, dark blue shirt and beige shorts at the time of the incident. The second woman is believed to be of a similar age. She has a light complexion, straight brown hair and was wearing a cropped black top and black pants at the time.

Whistler RCMP asks anyone who recognizes these woman or has any additional information to share about the file to contact the local detachment at 604-932-3044, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or solvecrime.ca to stay anonymous.
