Whistler Community Services Society's cold weather shelter is once again open to all tonight.

Locals can escape the cold starting this evening thanks to Whistler’s extreme weather shelter, which will remain open overnight.

The Whistler Community Services Society (WCSS) is reactivating the shelter at its Nesters Road location from 6 p.m. Thursday to 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17. Weather-dependent, the shelter will remain open nightly as long as temperatures reach -10 C or below, or, alternatively, temperatures hit 0 C along with adverse weather conditions, such as heavy rain, snowfall, or windchill.

The shelter is open to anyone living in precarious housing situations. No identification is necessary to access the shelter.

The WCSS provides cots, sleeping bags, pillows, warm food and beverages. Support workers will also be onsite. Parking is free.

The shelter is located at 8000 Nesters Road.

Stay up to date with shelter openings by signing up for phone alerts by texting “EWR” to 604-902-0476.
